DIY: Make Liquid Hand Soap From Bar Soap

Big Revelation: I'm a weirdo. ( Gasp!) One of my weird shticks is that I really dislike bar soap. I have no real reasoning, I just think "Ehhh, it sits out in the air all day collecting bacteria shot through the air by every sneeze, toilet flush and overactive tooth brush. No, thanks." And now that I've sufficiently grossed you out (Me: 1, You Guys: 0), I'll show you what I do with the 4,000 bars my mom buys me at Costco. Turn it into liquid soap!

What You'll Need:
1bar of soap (Equaled 8.5 oz)
A cheese grater
8 cups of water
Large Pot
Funnel
Blender (optional)
Food Coloring (optional)
Essential oil (optional)

Instructions:
1. Use cheese grater to grate soap up into tiny little pieces.
2. Boil 8 cups of water.
3. Add in soap flakes, stirring until completely mixed.
4. Once soap flakes are completely dissolved, remove from heat.
5. Let cool for about an hour (it should be thicker now) then stir again. Let cool for several more hours (at least 3) stirring a little once every hour.

Optional parts:
You can add in a few drops of food coloring to change the color once you have removed it from the heat. I used orange.
You can also add any essential oil you may have during this step.
If you are making this before bed and are not going to be stirring continuously it will be a little clumpy in the morning, just run it through the blender, on low, for about 2 seconds and it'll be the perfect consistency.

NOTE: This makes quite a bit of hand soap so you'll need a container to store it in. I use old ice cream quart containers and it fills it about 75%. It'll last a long while. All from one bar of soap!

xxo,
Prima
