DIY: Make Your Own Play Dough!

So the little man has a tutorial for you guys today. He decided he wanted to tell a story with play dough like we used to before he could write. Unfortunately, he let his old dough dry out but had the brilliant idea for us to make more (two activities in one!) It is relatively simple, however with this method adult supervision is necessary, as there is a little brief stove work involved. Here's what you'll need:

Memorial Day Beauty Deals!

Today America celebrates and gives thanks for the tireless efforts of our servicemen and women who gave their own life in the protection and upholding of ours and our families - people they would never even come to know. Us regular old folk celebrate and commemorate this day with parades and barbeques (unless you're a vegetarian like moi!) and countless other acts. The beauty business has seemed to find a way to celebrate as well - with super beauty deals! Here are a few:

EyesLipsFace.com has a buy one, get one 50% off sale going on until midnight. (Minimum $20 purchase and you can get A TON for $20 there!) Use Code: BOGO
Higly recommend their 11pc Studio Brush Set and Stipple Brush! Excellent!

TooFaced.com is offering Free Shipping on all orders. Use Code: THANKYOU12

JustFab.com is holding a FABULOUS deal on bags - your first one is just $25!

CherryCulture.com is holding a 20% off sale on their already amazing prices of cosmetics!

Hautelook.com is offering Jean-Michelle cosmetics for near steals and although I've never tried them, for these prices, I definitely will!

I'd say all these deals are plenty to celebrate!

My town is holding a parade that ends at the lake. I got pretty into it with the makeup and garb, huh? Lol

DIY: Make Liquid Hand Soap From Bar Soap

Big Revelation: I'm a weirdo. ( Gasp!) One of my weird shticks is that I really dislike bar soap. I have no real reasoning, I just think "Ehhh, it sits out in the air all day collecting bacteria shot through the air by every sneeze, toilet flush and overactive tooth brush. No, thanks." And now that I've sufficiently grossed you out (Me: 1, You Guys: 0), I'll show you what I do with the 4,000 bars my mom buys me at Costco. Turn it into liquid soap!

What You'll Need:
1bar of soap (Equaled 8.5 oz)
A cheese grater
8 cups of water
Large Pot
Funnel
Blender (optional)
Food Coloring (optional)
Essential oil (optional)

Instructions:
1. Use cheese grater to grate soap up into tiny little pieces.
2. Boil 8 cups of water.
3. Add in soap flakes, stirring until completely mixed.
4. Once soap flakes are completely dissolved, remove from heat.
5. Let cool for about an hour (it should be thicker now) then stir again. Let cool for several more hours (at least 3) stirring a little once every hour.

Optional parts:
You can add in a few drops of food coloring to change the color once you have removed it from the heat. I used orange.
You can also add any essential oil you may have during this step.
If you are making this before bed and are not going to be stirring continuously it will be a little clumpy in the morning, just run it through the blender, on low, for about 2 seconds and it'll be the perfect consistency.

NOTE: This makes quite a bit of hand soap so you'll need a container to store it in. I use old ice cream quart containers and it fills it about 75%. It'll last a long while. All from one bar of soap!

Knight Time | An Inspired Look

Hey there!
So I was watching the Snow White and the Huntsman trailer (which Charlize Theron and Kristen Stewart looked AMAZING in!) and I got inspired to create this look. All of the knights, at least that's who I think they were, were guys so that means the most makeup they wore was mascara and deep brown eyeliner. I imagined if the knights had been these ferocious women fighters coming after Snow White and wondered what they would've looked like. The color palette was inspired by the knights' uniform and the eye shape came from the metallic crown worn by the Evil Witch (played by Ms. Theron). I tried out the vampy lip with this, too! ^_^

Are you as excited about the film as I am?!

Book of the Month | A Long Way Gone by Ishmael Beah

Hallo meine Damen!

This month I read the book A Long Way Gone: Memoirs of a Boy Soldier by Ishmael Beah. It is an autobiography of Beah's life before he emigrated to the United States in 1998. Beah was forced by in his homeland of Sierra Leone to become a soldier at the age of thirteen. The title pretty much hints that this will happen but, as a reader, you become so attached to this young boy and drawn to his story, you want to hold out hope that he can escape the clutches of the rebels forever. Unfortunately, he was only able to do so for about a year. I won't give away the story but I will share a few of my favorite excerpts from the book:

Trend Spotting: Hits and Misses at the MET Ball 2012

Hola, lovelies!
As EVERYONE in fashion (and even some who aren't) knows the MET Ball was held last week and celebs flooded Manhattan in their runway best. Obvious trends of the night ranged from sequins to feathers and while no one managed to show up looking like a complete Vegas showgirl (except for you, Karolina Kurkova, you're debatable) some celebs nailed the look while others completely missed the mark. Here are my hits and misses:

Words of Wisdom

A little pick me up. For me. For you.

“You have to learn to follow your heart. You can’t let other people pressure you into being something that you’re not. If you want God’s favor in your life, you must be the person He made you to be, not the person your boss wants you to be, not even the person your parents or your husband wants you to be. You can’t let outside expectations keep you from following your own heart.” ― Joel Osteen, Your Best Life Now: 7 Steps to Living at Your Full Potential

Face of the Day | Real Teal

Today I had almost all my nieces and nephew over and they decided to have a masquerade ball! Unfortunately for me my insanely huge, teased hair snapped the string on my super cheap-o mask :( Instead of whipping up another I decided to whip up a makeup look inspired by our little theme and thus, THIS look was born!
